Transitioning to an all-electric business is cleaner and healthier than using fossil fuels and can give your company an edge by incorporating sustainable practices into your business plan.
Moving away from fossil fuel use is an important step to a sustainable future. That’s why the City of Palo Alto Utilities (CPAU) offers a variety of rebates, services, and resources to help you shift your business from fossil fuels to electricity. If you’re looking to go electric, the Business Electrification Technical Assistance Program (BE TAP) assists non-residential CPAU customers with conversion of gas equipment to efficient electric alternatives. Take the first step by receiving a free electrification assessment to see what opportunities are relevant to your business and facility.
How can my business benefit from the Business Electrification Technical Assistance Program?
- Generous rebates to offset the costs of electrification projects
- Improved health and comfort for building occupants
- Increased sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint
- Opportunities to upgrade old or inefficient equipment
How does it work?
- Schedule a free phone consultation with an Energy Advisor. Complete the customer interest form on the Business Electrification Technical Assistance Program webpage. An Energy Advisor from CLEAResult will contact you within 3 business days.
- Schedule an electrification assessment. Your Energy Advisor can help pinpoint exactly where your business can benefit from electrification by identifying gas equipment that is ready to be replaced and confirm whether your electric panel can support new and efficient electric alternatives.
Review report findings with an energy advisor. You’ll receive unbiased advice to better understand the report and prioritize your recommended upgrades based on your goals, impact, budget, and payback.
Start your upgrade project. Once you decide to move forward with the approved recommended projects, you can get started using any contractor of your choice, or we can help find one for you.
Receive your rebate. After installation, staff will verify the completed project at your facility and confirm the rebate amount. Once approved, CPAU will issue you a rebate within 2–3 weeks. View the electrification rebates available in our rebate catalog. View rebates.
Who is eligible?
Eligible customers must be non-residential and receive utility services from CPAU (i.e., currently on a commercial rate schedule for electric and/or gas utility services), must be an existing facility and must agree to the Program Participation Agreement.
